Annie Davidson

Annie was born near the Snake River, Idaho, and raised on a farm in eastern Maine. She learned to sing, play and harmonize with her family. Her mother Helen was her first teacher. She studied voice with Bill Reed of Circle in the Square, New York City. In 2005, she moved to California where she studied with Patricia McGuinness of University of California, Santa Cruz. In 2008, she moved to the Reno/Tahoe area of the Sierra Nevada. She currently studies voice with Stuart Duke in Reno.

Annie is a regular soloist with the TOCCATA Tahoe Symphony Orchestra. Her recent classical solo performances include J.S. Bach’s Cantata No. 51 and St. Matthew Passion, the Fauré Requiem, and the Mozart Requiem. She played the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Reno Pops Orchestra in 2019, and is excited to sing the soprano solo part in Kim André Arnesen’s Magnificat with Sacramento group Vox Musica in December 2022 under the direction of Daniel Paulson.

Annie started writing songs in 2016. She is a recording singer/songwriter, producing songs that combine folk and country sound with indie rock and blues. She participated in the Yosemite Songwriter Retreat in 2017 where she met Reneé Wild, with whom she co-writes songs, including “Fall In” and “Can’t Hold It Back.”

Her first album of originals, “Angel Gravy,” was released on December 15, 2022. The songs are performed with Heather Pierson and Shawn Nadeau, and recorded, mixed and master by Alan Bean at Baked Beans Recordings Studio in Harrison, Maine. Chris “Crow” Hansen described the collection of tracks this way: “Your messsage to the world is demanding, it is balanced. You create because of authenticity... a magical ability to remember."

With Andy Hatch and Andy Voelkel, Annie founded the folk-rock band Raggedy in 2021, and the group, which now also includes Peggy Ann Cooley and Christine Wood, plays in the Reno/Tahoe region. She is part of the Reno Musicians Collective, led by Alese Linder.

Annie has worked as a dairy farmer, college professor, preschool teacher, field worker, bartender, and social scientist. She currently lives in the Tahoe basin. When she’s not singing, she works in education research and follows her two beloved daughters around.
